Pizza in Auschwitz (2008) The Horsemen

Moshe Zimerman
with Danny Chanoch, Miri Chanoch, Sagi Chanoch
Length: 52 min

For the Day of Remembrance. Danny Chanoch, senior survivor of Auschwitz, brings his two sons to follow the path that he did as a child, from his hometown in Lithuania to Auschwitz.

This is a short feature that can not fail to stir the minds and lead to reflection. And 'the witness in direct shot of a man who has experienced the tragedy of the Holocaust, and trying to make her understand her children. Sagi is very religious, and almost never speaks. Miri instead is very critical, and never misses an opportunity to discuss with his father about the meaning of that trip, so far from home (they all live in Israel). The themes are called to reflect varied, from the new European racism, the rights of Jewish survivors and their position in the world, the possibility and usefulness of understanding these experiences, the suffering of a family and children of a father who does not lack an occasion to remember his past. A film can not comment, in practice, the film consists of four or five people who make this trip and a couple more that come after them to witness and record the fact. There is hardly write, think that the program is beginning to go through three extermination camps-the last of which was Auschwitz, but no greater than the first. Only in the past few festivals and a film club in the original language (Hebrew) subtitled.
